About

Chapel Hill Piano Salon brings world-class pianists to a small town in North Carolina for home concerts, allowing classical piano lovers the unprecedented opportunity to attend concert hall performances in an intimate setting. With every seat in close proximity to the piano and performer, the concertgoers’ experience is different than in any other piano recital they have ever attended:  sitting ten feet away from a concert grand piano to hear piano classics played by great artists, the music is more present, the sound more alive, the performance more gripping.  These concerts take place in the founder’s home on a spectacular Bosendorfer 280VC concert grand piano, one of only about twenty-five in the United States. TV screens projecting the piano keyboard ensure that every seat offers a superb view of the musician’s performance, resulting in a magnificent experience.

The idea behind Chapel Hill Piano Salon is to bring international pianists to an appreciative audience, rather than forcing classical music lovers to travel to Carnegie Hall to hear the live performances that they crave. Performers in the home concert series have included Alexander Kobrin, Eric Lu, Marina Lomazov, Joseph Rackers, and Marc-Andre Hamelin.

“Here we are in this beautiful home in Chapel Hill, yet it’s an international stage with international talent.  It’s just so incredibly special.”
